Mission
Beyond providing early childhood educational services to children with Down Syndrome, the mission of KinderFrogs School is to serve as an on-campus training site for TCU students in the College of Education and other university programs. TCU students are an active and vital part of KinderFrogs School as observers, practice teachers, classroom aides and beginning educational researchers. TCU professors are also available to offer their expertise and knowledge to the KinderFrogs School staff and students.

History
KinderFrogs School became a reality through the energy and commitment of a small group of dedicated parents and community members. These parents wanted no less for their children. TCU faculty and staff felt that offering services to this small group of children would benefit both the university and the community. Texas Christian University enthusiastically welcomed their smallest "Horned Frogs" in the fall of 2000.

Program
The KinderFrogs School program provides the highest quality of early childhood educational services to children with Down Syndrome as well as typically developing children. KinderFrogs School serves young toddlers and preschoolers ages 18 months to 5 years. Currently, KinderFrogs School has two classrooms serving approximately 20 students. Each classroom employs a teacher who has a graduate degree in Special Education, or is working towards one, and two instructional teacher assistants. Student-teacher ratio is about 3:1.

Services
Many services are provided using a collaborative/consultation service delivery model. Services such as occupational, physical, musical, and speech therapies are delivered through a transdisciplinary approach in which the therapeutic activities are provided to the teachers and instructional teacher aides, under the supervision of the therapists. The therapeutic activities are integrated into the daily routine. Recommendations are provided to families for carry over into the home and other natural environments.

Schedule
The year round schedule is provided in advance to allow parents time to plan alternative child care options and family vacations. There are planned breaks which include 5 days at Thanksgiving, 2 weeks at Christmas, 3 weeks in the spring, 1 week at the beginning of summer and three weeks at the end of the summer. The classes operate from 8:30 AM until 2:30 PM, Monday through Friday. Before and after school care is available.

Admission
Children are admitted to KinderFrogs School at TCU following an initial screening and review of a comprehensive evaluation. Admission is based on the evaluation, the child's age, and availability of space in the classroom. Families of typically developing children must complete an admission packet.
